    The East Rim

Tuesday. May 15 2018. Thomas Springs. I warned ya’ll that today would be a long day, and that it was. I woke up at 6am, and even without cooking breakfast, I did not start hiking until 6:55. I am not sure why it always, always takes me at least an hour just to pack up camp, but it’s just become a fact of these trips. Maybe one day I won’t be so slow moving in the morning. The day started with 4.4mi down the West Rim, passing Angel’s Landing and all the people. I then took the shuttle to the next stop, after filling up on water and enjoying the…

    Where Angel’s Land

I have been meaning to start writing about my trip to Utah, but life always has a way of getting in the way. With night shift, I am always tired. And I am trying to better the layout and content of my blog and learn how to better edit my pictures, which is tiring when that involves the support chat quite a bit. I am so technology-stupid. So thank you for your patience! So when I start travel nursing, I want the travel portion of this blog to become more of a resource for others looking to explore. When planning a trip, I spend hours trying to find the best…

    A Not Traveling Nurse

I have a desire for this to become an iconic travel blog; allowing me to travel full time and explore literally everything this world has to offer just sounds ideal… However, that is not realistic. Because my other passion? Working in healthcare and helping people (specifically my kids and their families.) Which of course requires a semi-stable location. I say ‘semi-stable’ because fortunately my chosen career path has an option to merge the two together: travel nursing. As of now, I hope to start travel nursing next year, which is terrifying and so exciting. I cannot wait to move out west and be within short driving distances of grand National…

    Just Traveling & Reflecting

Sunday. June 25, 2017. An airplane. The last 2 days have been filled with traveling in the most boring sense. I left Yosemite yesterday at 0930, got to the Amtrak at 1313 and waited for 2 hours before boarding. I then took the Bart into San Francisco to get checked into my bunkhouse after 2000. This morning I woke up at 0645 to eat breakfast and buy SF souvenirs before heading to the airport at 1230 (all made more difficult by the pride parade happening in the home of the first LGBTQ community.) My first flight was delayed 45 minutes and then my second flight by 2 hours and 45…

    Up the Falls

Saturday. June 17, 2017. Yosemite. Well here I am, laying down in my tent, my home for the next week. Getting here has been a hassle, for months even if I am being honest. But so far, it already has been worth it. Yes it sucks, just like one would expect, but in such a good way. So this morning I had one option to get to Yosemite as I previously explained; the Merced Yarts to the express Yarts in Mariposa, with 6 minutes between the two. Unfortunately my first bus driver was 25 minutes late. I immediately confronted her and asked “What am I going to do?!” She was new,…
